Becoming a Chinese Teacher

TSC Chinese Teacher Placement Program and Requirements

exclaim3Mainland China Applicants - CIMSU's partner, Beijing Channel Consulting, handles our Chinese teacher recruitment in China.  http://www.bcc.bj.cn/tsc/

The TSC Chinese Teacher Placement Program prepares both individuals who are already certified teachers, as well as those who have college degrees in other areas, to teach Chinese in American schools. To be a CI-MSU hired Chinese teacher, you must meet State Teacher Certification requirements. This includes enrolling in MSU's Chinese Teacher Certification Program, which is a 6 semester post-professional program for candidates who are already proficient in Mandarin and provides academic training for a provisional license to instruct Chinese in K-12 classrooms. For an additional 6 credits, teachers may earn a MA in Teaching and Curriculum.

The TSC Chinese Teacher Placement Program is an employment program for individuals who need work authorization in order to teach in the US. If you are interested in the TSC Chinese Teacher Placement, please contact Beijing Channel Consulting for your initial employment application. In order to be fully considered as a CI employed teacher, you must also meet all the application requirements for being a student in MSU's Chinese Teacher Certification Program, which is an academic program.

Information and admissions requirements for MSU's Chinese Experimental Post BA Teacher Certification Program (top of page) and a description of the differences between the TSC Chinese Teacher Placement Program and the Chinese Experimental Post BA Teacher Certification Program (bottom of page) can both be found here.
